Matthew Kadoma: Are we sure about palm oil?

I came across this news, with an opinion piece by Matthew Kadoma of Tanga, Tanzania.
He is entitled to be concerned,
This is after the ruin left in Southeast Asia, where forest cover has disappeared.
I realise that the financial rewards for growing this crop remain attractive.

Palm oil is now the most widely consumed vegetable oil accounting for more than a third of the world’s production.

However, I always like to say that for the time being, there is only one Earth. Are we sure about palm oil?

I welcomed the factual response by lady Monique Cech that highlighted below,
It's natural for Matthew Kadoma to be concerned, but I hope he gets the facts right.

The most noisiest anti-palm oil countries and their NGOs are in Europe and North America. Greenpeace and WWF are both headquartered in Europe - Netherlands and UK respectively, but both countries have shameless forest record, with remaining forest cover of 12% for UK and 9% for Netherlands -- compared to ASEAN countries; Indonesia 50% and Malaysia 60%.

Malaysia is the global leader in balance between food security, poverty eradication and forest management. As a living proof, there's no country in this world that dominates global edible oil supply and retain 60% of forest cover at the same time -- except Malaysia.
